Rain/Flooding Warning

Environment Canada has posted heavy rainfall warnings for southern New Brunswick, saying parts of the region could get up to 100 millimetres by tonight.

The weather agency says rainfall could drop at least 50 millimetres in most of the southern half of New Brunswick by tonight with nearly double that forecast for southwestern regions.

It has also posted special weather statements for the rest of the province and most of Nova Scotia — saying a low pressure system that will track over the Great Lakes during the weekend will dump up to 50 millimetres by Sunday night.

The agency says the additional rain will exacerbate current flooding in New Brunswick and advises residents near the St. John River and its tributaries to remain on alert.

Body Discovered

Bathurst RCMP are investigating after a body was found in Rosehill. The man was discovered in the woods around 7:30 Thursday evening, and has been identified as a 23-year-old reported missing on Wednesday. The cause of death is being determined.
