NB Liberals still preferred: CRA survey

A new survey says the New Brunswick Liberals are still the preferred political party.  Corporate Research Associates has 46% of decided voters supporting them, down from 51% in February.  The PC Party went up to 33% from 30%, and the NDP has 11% support from 12%.  The Greens have 6% support (up from 5%) and the People’s Alliance has 3%, up from 2%.

Property assessment review

Auditor General Kim MacPherson will be conducting the review of the property assessment system after all the errors saw people’s assessments sky-rocket. Because she’s doing a review, former Justice Joseph Roberston, who was appointed by the Gallant Government, won’t be continuing with his review.

Roberston says he will share the notes he has gathered so far with Kim MacPherson, who expressed some concern about the independance of a review by someone appointed by cabinet as opposed to someone who answers to the full legislature as she does.
Meanwhile, the government now says over 16,000 property owners have requested reviews of their assessments. Service New Brunswick has sent out 1,800 reassessments…93% of them dropped. It’ll likely be next year before they get to all the appeals.
