Quispamsis to borrow money for roads

Quispamsis Town Council is looking at raising the tax rate by a penny, according to the Telegraph-Journal.

After slashing $850,000 from the proposed budget at its first meeting on the budget last week, the councillors have now voted to borrow $750,000 to pay for new roadwork. Staff is recommending a $1.68 million road resurfacing program for parts of 14 roads as well as the Qplex parking lot.

Women Who Care donate to food bank

The Saint John chapter of 100 Women Who Care has donated $21,400 to its latest recipient.

A local has made its 15th donation…this time to the North End Food Bank. Each member of the group donates $100 then they listen to pitches from various charities and pick one to receive the money.
