14 people have to find alternate accomodations for now after a fire in a small apartment building in Crescent Valley yesterday afternoon.

The call came in from Taylor Avenue around 3:00pm and flames were coming out of the front of the building when fire fighters arrived.

All the tenants were out at the time and nobody was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A homeowner in Rothesay was saved by his smoke alarm early yesterday morning.

He got out safely when the flames erupted in his house on Riverview Avenue around 3:30am.  The house is still standing but there’s extensive damage.

One fire fighter suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
