Legislature reinforces support for Energy East

A motion in support of the Energy East pipeline has been tabled in the legislature.

Premier Brian Gallant moved it, and it was seconded by Opposition Leader Blaine Higgs.  An estimated 4,500 direct and indirect jobs are expected during construction, with 321 once it’s in operation. The potential increase to the province’s GDP is more than $3 billion.

Tory leadership debate

The 14 Conservative Leadership candidates gathered in Moncton last night for a bilingual debate.

It was to see how each of them handled both languages with much of the debate focusing on creating jobs and stopping young people from leaving some provinces. They talked about the criminal justice system, infrastructure and economic growth, including the Energy East Pipeline which all agreed should go ahead.

The debate was relatively tame with a lot of agreement among the 14….but Maxime Bernier landed one shot when he called Kellie Leitch a karaoke version of Donald Trump.
