New Brunswick’s New Year’s baby

The first baby born in the province for Canada’s 150th birthday year was in Miramichi.

Douglas John Pilon-Brown was born at 2:23am yesterday morning to Amanda Quinn and Rodney Pilon-Brown at Miramichi Regional Hospital.

The first baby in Canada was reportedly born at one second after midnight in Toronto, Eastern Standard Time…although there was one in Halifax and one minute past midnight…Atlantic time.

New Year’s Eve accidents

Car accidents New Year’s Eve sent three people to hospital..

The Telegraph Journal reported a two vehicle crash on Westmorland Road near noon sent one person to hospital. A second two vehicle accident about three hours later Rothesay and McAllistar Drive sent another person to hospital. Then two pedestrians were hit by a vehicle on Lancaster Avenue around 1:30 yesterday morning. None of the injuries was reported to have been life-threatening.
