The Greater Sussex-Hampton Region Economic Development Strategy is complete.
Bill Thomson and NuFocus will be making a public presentation of that on Wednesday evening at 6:30 in the Wesley Hall of the Sanders Irving Chapel at Kingswood University.
The strategy was put in place to attract business and industry to the Sussex area, following the closure of the PCS Mines in Penobsquis last winter.
A Tory MLA says the Gallant government isn’t spending enough on combating the spruce budworm. Resource Development critic Ross Wetmore says the $2 million set aside is “chump change”, and figures the threat of an infestation will cost hundreds of millions. Natural Resources Minister Rick Doucet accused him of fearmongering, and mentioned the plan to target 150,000 hectares with insecticide.
