A Edmunston man has been acquitted of manslaughter. 20-year-old Gabriel Cyr was charged in the 2015 death of Ricky Cyr (no relation) in Saint-Jacques. The latter died of his injuries five days after their bar fight, outside Café d’la Vieille Forge.

Questioning of six council members heading to FCM conference
A Miramichi councillor is questioning six members going to a summer conference in Ottawa. The Federation of Canadian Municipalities is holding meetings, with about $22,500 going to Mayor Adam Lordon, Deputy Mayor Brian King and four others’ attendance. While acknowledging it’s within travel expenses, Shelly Williams wondered about the amount of people being sent for this kind of event.
