The final piece of the Big Lift will be hoisted into place on the Macdonald Bridge today. The last of 46 deck segments will be put in place, bringing an end to two years of regular weekend closures. Closures during weeknights and a number of future weekend closures will still be necessary to complete paving and final touches on the new bridge deck. Crews will soon turn their attention to completing the new walkways and bike lanes.

Public Meetings Scheduled for Review of Ice Storm Response
Five communities will host public meetings to share concerns about the January Ice Storm that crippled parts of the province for 10 days. The 90 minute public meetings will be held April 3rd to 6th in Tracadie, Bas-Caraquet, Lameque, Miramichi and Richibucto. The meetings are part of the province’s review of the response to the ice storm which at it’s height knocked out power to 130-thousand-people. A final report with recommendations is expected in July.
