Brookland Elementary School update

Students from Brookland Elementary School won’t be going back there until after the March break.

Parents got a tour of the building yesterday which is undergoing major renovations after the Thanksgiving flood, and those renovations won’t be completed until September.  So students will be using classrooms on the top floor of the school not the ground floor which was heavily damaged.  Some parents questioned why they’re not waiting until September to send the kids back.

The renovations will cost about $1.5 million.

Kentville meeting

A pitch to turn the Allen’s Motel property into an affordable housing complex is receiving mixed reviews.

The Kings County branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association made a presentation to Kentville’s Council Advisory Committee regarding a proposal to turn the Allen’s Motel property on Park Street into an affordable housing project.

There will be a public meeting regarding that in the Kentville Fire Hall tomorrow, from 7 til 9 p.m.
