Water levels in the Gaspereau River have been high for longer than normal, but that could be over soon. Nova Scotia Power runs water through the system to help migration of fish, but that’s happened late this year. The hydro facility normally shuts down for the summer in mid-June, but while it runs people enjoy tubing and the like.

Public meetings about possible dog park in Amherst
Amherst is holding public meetings on a possible new dog park. They’ll be August 8th from noon-2, as well as August 17th and September 7th from 7-9 at the Community Credit Union Business Innovation Centre. Dogs currently can’t be off-leash unless a property owner gives permission.
