Baillie comments on cabby case

Tory opposition party leader Jamie Baillie wants an inquiry into a Halifax judge’s comments from his decision to acquit a taxi driver charged with sexaully assaulting a passenger.

In his verdict, Judge Gregory Lenehan said the Crown had not proven there was a lack of consent on the woman’s part; and although she was very drunk, the judge said that “clearly, a drunk can consent.”

Apple Blossom Parade staying put this year

The Apple Blossom Parade will be held in Kentville after all, this year.

The Town and Festival issued a joint release saying they had reached agreement to keep the parade where it’s been for almost all of its history.  It said were happy to rediscover clarity and understanding about the support from the Town of Kentville in hosting the event.

Kentville CAO Mark Phillips said this is open communication and mutual interest for the greater success of the parade and festival by all parties.
