NS summer jobs

If you’re looking for a summer job, Parks Canada has a hundred of them.  It is looking for people to fill more positions than usual this year, people who love the outdoors; manual labour and greeting the public.  Eddie Kennedy at Fortress of Louisbourg says that because of free admission for the Canada 150 celebrations, they are expecting a big increase in visitors to all national parks and other operations like the Fortess and Bell site in Baddeck.

He says all the jobs are entry-level, designed to give students training and many are bilingual.

NS Education Minister comments on “no fail” allegations

Education Minister Karen Casey called it a “myth” that there’s a “no fail” policy in the school system.

The minister pointed out 259 students failed last year from Primary to Grade 9.  But that is a very small fraction of the 115,000 students in the province.  The no fail policy was one of the items brought up by the Teachers Federation during the contract dispute.
