In Cape Breton, there were 1138 consumer insolvencies filed in 2016 compared to 837 filed in 2015 – a 36% increase year over year. There was a 56% spike in bankruptcies year over year and 12% spike in consumer proposals. In Nova Scotia, consumer insolvencies were up 13% year over year in the province.

Annapolis Valley Atlantic Superstores and Your Independent Grocers have kicked off their Spring Food Drive. Each store is supporting at least one food bank in its community, with donations being taken until Thursday, April 13th.
