Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Pictou County

A motorcyclist was discovered seriously injured on the side of the road in Pictou County on Saturday afternoon. RCMP say an off-duty officer spotted the motorcycle on the side of the road near exit 19 on highway 104 in Salt Springs. The officer then discovered the driver who was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Traffic was temporarily rerouted as police investigated the cause of the crash.

Sydney Mines Hit and Run Victim Dies; Driver Faces Murder Charge

A woman struck by a vehicle in Sydney Mines on Friday has died and the driver responsible is being charged with second degree murder. A 28-year-old woman was seriously injured after being struck in a hit and run on Oxford Avenue in Sydney Mines early Friday morning. The victim was airlifted to Halifax but later died from her injuries. 36-year-old Kimberly Ann O’Dea of Sydney Mines was arrested a short time later. O’Dea is facing charges of second degree murder and criminal negligence causing death. She will appear in court on Monday. Police say the victim and O’Dea were known to each other.
