Sydney Mines Hit and Run Victim Dies; Driver Faces Murder Charge

A woman struck by a vehicle in Sydney Mines on Friday has died and the driver responsible is being charged with second degree murder. A 28-year-old woman was seriously injured after being struck in a hit and run on Oxford Avenue in Sydney Mines early Friday morning. The victim was airlifted to Halifax but later died from her injuries. 36-year-old Kimberly Ann O’Dea of Sydney Mines was arrested a short time later. O’Dea is facing charges of second degree murder and criminal negligence causing death. She will appear in court on Monday. Police say the victim and O’Dea were known to each other.
