Milford standoff

A 63 year old Milford man is facing charges after a ten hour standoff with police.

It started Saturday afternoon with a man threatening to burn down a house on Bayberry Drive, telling fire fighters he had a gun and threatening police.

A Crisis Negotiator finally talked him into giving up peacefully early yesterday morning.  The RCMP seized a 22 calibre rifle and took the man into custody on a number of charges.  Nobody was hurt.

Lunenburg County incident

A 48 year old man is facing charges after a traffic stop in Gold River in Lunenburg County.

The RCMP pulled over a car on Beech Hill Road.  The officer saw some open liquor, along with a handgun and ammunition.  He arrested the man who was given a notice to appear in court May 17th on various weapons charges.
