The movie opening in theatres probably helped the bids, but a newly discovered painting by Maud Lewis has attracted a bid of over $125,000. The auctioneers are authenticating the buyer but believe it is legitimate. Bids will be accepted until May 19.
The painting of Bayview lobster fishermen was recently found in donations at a thrift centre in New Hamburg, Ontario.
