Middleton fire calls

Middleton Fire Chief Mike Toole says that the number of calls last year was 104, up from an average of about 80 for other years.

Half of the calls were in three categories, 22 vehicle accidents; 19 structure fires, and 11 wildland fires.

Doctors Nova Scotia concerns

Doctors Nova Scotia says a shortage of physicians in the province will only get worse as the population ages.

It’s urging the government to focus on recruiting more to replace those retiring.  There are 118 vacaancies around the province right now.  It has developed a plan to recruit 100 doctors a year for the next decade.
