A new Stephen McNeil government would have multiple initiatives for the environment. A new Coastal Protection Act, Biodiversity Act and Biodiversity Council would come in, and an independent review of current forestry practices is also ready to go. The moratorium on fracking would also remain.

Forum won’t go ahead after McNeil, Burrill don’t commit
A forum that would have featured all three main Nova Scotia party leaders is now a no-go. The Halifax Chamber of Commerce and other Business District Improvement Commissions were hosting, but Liberal Stephen McNeil and New Democrat Gary Burrill didn’t confirm participation. Progressive Conservative Jamie Baillie was set to attend.
