Digby trails

Digby has OK’d a motion to express interest to the Department of Natural Resources regarding the management of 46 kilometres of trail, from the Sissiboo River to Bear River.

That motion would see Digby lease that stretch of trails as Crown land.

It still would need to be determined which party would be responsibe for the maintenance of  structures, such as the Joggins Bridge.

NS injured workers group

An injured workers group is renewing its calls for a broad review of Nova Scotia’s workers compensation system, which it says is hampered by foot-dragging and a board whose decisions are often overturned when appealed.

The Pictou County Injured Workers Association was established 25 years ago to help workers make their way through the workers compensation system.  It now has more than 600 active files.

A 2002 review of the workers compensation system criticized the workers compensation system in the province, and made several recommendations, including a mandatory review every four years.
