Syrian Refugee’s Chocolate Factory in NS Overwhelmed with Demand

A Nova Scotia chocolate maker is having trouble keeping up with demand after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told his their family’s story in an address to the United Nations. The Hadad family, refugees from Syria who settled in Antigonish, say they are turning customers away. The family had run a chocolate factory in Syria that was destroyed in a missile attack but opened a small factory in Antigonish shortly after arriving in Canada. The family has now started a gofundme campaign to try and raise money to expand their small factory and hire new employees.

Two Men Robbed on Gottingen Street

Halifax police are looking for a suspect who robbed two men on Gottingen Street early Friday morning. Police say the two men were approached by another man who demanded they give him all their money. The suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapon was seen and no one was injured. The suspect fled the area in a taxi. He’s described as a black male, 6-foot-3 with a heavy build and a very large beard.
