Some proms will go ahead despite the work to rule by teachers. A couple of businesses have gotten together to make sure proms are held at at least 4 high schools.

DJ Majestic and Timeless, a formalwear shop, are looking for volunteers to help put on the proms forGlace Bay, Riverview, Sydney Academy and Memorial High.

Brittany Woodworth, who owns Timeless, told CBC hopefully the work-to-rule will be settled before prom dates…but they want an alternative to be ready.  The Bayplex, Centre 200 and Emera Centre are saving dates for the proms.

Two Valley women are facing charges after the SPCA seized 18 cats from an unoccupied house in the New Minas area.

Animal cruelty charges have been laid against Teresa Steadman and Johanna Steadman. The SPCA first got a complaint last August about abandoned cats in the house. It says there was so much debris in the building it took months to fuibnd and remove the 18 cats.
