Guysborough thinking about massive wind farm

The municipality of Guysborough is hoping to play a part in providing clean energy to the New England. Emera is seeking partners to supply electricity that will run through an underwater cable from New Brunswick to Massachusetts.

Guysborough District CAO Barry Caroll says the municipality has registered as an interested party. It’s promoting the Melford area, with over 14,000 acres of land, as a potential site for a large scale wind farm.

Offshore exploration in trouble

Wade Locke, an economist at Memorial University, says it’s not a good sign for the province. He pointed out higher world oil prices are needed to encourage more exploration offshore.
