Restigouche Youth had its annual “Volunteering, it’s COOL” banquet last night.
9 bursaries were handed out, sponsored by the Richelieu Club and the Knights of Columbus of Campbellton; the CBDC and the Entrepreneurship Centre of Restigouche, the Youth Priority Centre; the Campbellton and Dalhousie Rotary Clubs, and the Campbellton Lions Club.
The Supreme Court of Canada says that Dennis Oland was wrongly denied bail during his appeal of his second-degree murder conviction in the killing of his father Richard Oland.
The unanimous decision breaks new ground on bail eligibility in appeal matters and will have influence beyond the sensational case.
Dennis Oland is no longer in custody, as he waits for a new trial.
He was earlier convicted of murdering his father in his Saint John office in July of 2011.
