The building boom in Moncton is continuing. The City of Moncton says the total value of building permits for the first quarter of this year, from January 1st to March 31st, came in at 60.8 million-dollars up from 42 million-dollars worth of construction over the same quarter of last year. The total number of building permits issued also rose from 146 in 2016 to 162 during the first quarter of 2017. The largest developments issued permits during the quarter include the 18-million-dollar expansion of Organigram, the five-five-queen condo project and a new 55-unit apartment building on Diamond Head Court.

Eggs Removed after Vehicle-Geese Collisions in Dieppe
A spat of vehicle collisions with Canada Geese prompted the Department of Transportation to remove 79 Geese eggs from inside the Dieppe Traffic Circle this weeks. CBC news reports the eggs were removed from 18 nests within the traffic circle on Thursday. There have been four collisions with geese reported in just the past month. The pond and surrounding area laying inside the traffic circle are a government protected wetland but the geese population nesting there has exploded in recent years.
