NB provincial court to have gender parity with new appointments

The New Brunswick provincial court will soon have gender parity among full-time judges.  Five new ones were named today: Joanne Durette in Bathurst, Johanne-Marguerite Landry in Caraquet, Natalie LeBlanc in Miramichi, Lucie Mathurin in Moncton and Kelly Ann Winchester in Saint John.  Current Moncton-based Jolène Richard will take over as the court’s chief judge in June.

Bathurst mayor wants province to ban biker gangs

The mayor of Bathurst wants the province to ban biker gangs.  Paolo Fongemie told CBC some locals are worried about the Darksiders North Shore, who recently put “MC” on their jacket after being in town a couple of years; an apparent Hells Angels affiliation.  Brian Gallant says the government is open to requests but hasn’t formally been asked.
