The province’s Emergency Services Provider Fund is now offering up to 75% of the cost of eligible equipment. It provides up to $20,000 every three years for fire departments, ground search and rescue groups and hazardous materials teams. Applications are open until June 9th.

NS Power storm damage highest in 10 years last year
Nova Scotia Power spent more to cover storm damage last year than it had in 10 years. Over $22 million was put into repairs from 17 storms. Director of Regional Operations Matt Drover told CBC trees falling on lines is the main cause of damage.
