An investigation is on after a Dorchester Pen inmate was assaulted Wednesday morning. The inmate went to an outside hospital for treatment, and the attacker has been identified. The prison and RCMP are investigating.

NS sets new record for renewable-energy use
The province set a new record for renewable-energy use in 2016. Nova Scotia Power says we used 28% for electricity, topping the 26.6% used in 2015.
