Bluenose Marathon Main Event Underway

The main event at the 2017 Bluenose Marathon in Downtown Halifax is now underway. The Full Marathon got underway at 8am, with slower runners given a 7am start time. The 10k race is also taking place this morning. The weekend event attracted more than 10-thousand participants this year. More than 3-thousand of those took part in yesterday’s 2k and 4k youth runs – the largest kids running event in Canada.

Injured Driver Airlifted from Motocross Track near Canning

A teen-aged competitive motocross driver was airlifted from a race track in King’s County on Saturday afternoon. RCMP tell the CBC that the young man, believed to be 18 or 19-years-old, crashed on the course near Canning around 3:30pm. Police say the driver was completing a test run ahead of today’s main race when he crashed. He was airlifted to a Halifax hospital but there’s been no update on his current condition. Police say no other vehicles were involved and the incident is being treated as an accident.
