Masstown roundabout issues

A roundabout being built in Masstown is drawing complaints from truckers who say it is too tight and narrow to navigate.

Truckers added that another concern is that the outside curb on the roundabout is too high.

Keith Boddy, TIR’s senior Highway Design engineer; met with the truckers last week, and said the design engineers did make some changes to the roundabout to address those issues.

Amherst flower project

Amherst is thinking about switching all of its hanging flower baskets over to the self-watering variety.

The town is using a self-watering hanging basket this year on a trial basis to find out if it uses less water than the traditional baskets and cuts down on the number of times it has to be watered.

The self-watering baskets have a six-litre reservoir beneath them.

It stores the water and the plants take it based on their need, according to the Citizen-Record.
