Eight MLAs becoming ministerial assistants

Eight MLAs will take on the role of ministerial assistants:

— Rafah DiCostanzo – Immigration, Advisory Council on the Status of Women Act
— Bill Horne – Natural Resources, with a focus on forestry
— Keith Irving – Treasury and Policy Board
— Ben Jessome – Youth
— Suzanne Lohnes-Croft – Education and Early Childhood Development, with a focus on early years
— Hugh MacKay – Business
— Brendan Maguire – Housing Nova Scotia
— Chuck Porter – Finance and Treasury Board, with a focus on tangible capital assets and infrastructure

Cumberland County Canada Day events

Along with Canada Day events in Amherst and the Gathering of the Clans and Harbour Fest in Pugwash, Oxford’s celebrations kick off at 11 Saturday morning in the gazebo.

In Joggins, the fireman’s parade is at 1 in the afternoon.

Parrsboro’s events go at 10:30 in the morning.

Amherst will have live music as well as vendors, wagon rides, a photo booth and more in Victoria Square, starting at 11 a.m.
