Cape Breton Regional Police raided a marijuana dispensary in Howie Centre on Friday. The search warrant was executed on Nova Budds on Kings Road. While marijuana is on track to become legal in Canada, the Cape Breton Regional Police say Nova Budds was operating illegally, was not authorized to dispense or sell marijuana – and its products were unregulated and potentially unsafe. Three men were arrested as a result of the search. A 34-year-old man from Port Hawkesbury has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. The other two men arrested have been released without charges.
