Sewage Smell in Windsor to Continue

The stench of sewage in the town of Windsor isn’t going away any time soon. A sewage lagoon that handles a third of the town’s sewage run off has been stinking up Windsor since early last week. Town officials tell the CBC that a number of factors are causing the problem, including heat, high levels of sludge and diffusers clogged by items that shouldn’t be flushed down toilets. Crews are working to clear the diffusers but it could take a couple of weeks for the smell to subside. A long term solution of removing the excess sludge could take up to two years and cost upwards of a million dollars.
