A funeral was held in Campobello, NB for a man who died last week while trying to rescue a whale tangled in fishing gear. 59-year-old Joe Howlett was a co-founder of the Campobello Whale Rescue Team. He died while trying to free a whale near Shippigan last Monday. CBC reports that a crowd of about 400 people gathered for his funeral yesterday at the Wilson’s Beach Baptist Church in Campobello.
