Sussex Corner and Sussex sewer scrap

Sussex and Sussex Corner were on the brink of a battle in court regarding sewer bills.

Sussex town council filed a motion for nearly $60,000 in unpaid sewage bills against Sussex Corner.

However, village council cut a cheque to pay Sussex what it is owed.

Until this year, Sussex Corner people paid $80 per household each year to the town for sewage disposal, and are now required to pay $225

Sussex Corner mayor Mark Flewwelling doesn’t think that’s fair.

Sussex Mayor Marc Thorne feels the rate increase is fair, as Sussex Corner is no longer subsidized by the people in Sussex.
