Kouchibouguac court fight

A lawsuit is threatening to shut down Kouchibouguac National Park.

A claim has been filed on behalf of a number of families who feel that their expropriation infringed on indigeneous rights.

More than a thousand families were moved to make room for Kouchibouguac National Park in 1969.

Their homes were bulldozed to the ground, as 10 Acadian villages were destroyed.

The lawsuit is against the federal government and is seeking a permanent injunction prohibiting the operation of the park.
