Gallant’s U.S. visit

The Telegraph-Journal says New Brunswick’s new special envoy on the softwood trade dispute is lining up key meetings with United States President Donald Trump’s inner circle in advance of a looming trip that premier Gallant will take to Washington.

Former U.S. ambassador to Canada, David Wilkins; says the access that he and his southern law firm can provide will first be flexed on the New Brunswick premier’s upcoming visit.

This is the fifth time that Canada and the U.S. have gotten into it over softwood duties.

New Brunswick wants to ensure softwood lumber from the Maritimes is granted an exemption.
