Fredericton SPCA Overrun with Hamsters

The SPCA in Fredericton is bursting at the seams with Hamsters. The animal shelter tells CBC that five of six abandoned hamsters that arrived at the SPCA in early May tuned out to be pregnant females. They all gave birth and now the SPCA has 54 of the little critters to care for. Making matters worse, the Syrian breed hamsters don’t live well together as the age and will soon start attacking and possibly injuring one another if left together. The SPCA is hoping loving families will come forward to adopt the hamsters for a small fee of $10.
