After 25 years Miramichi’s Major Midget hockey team is leaving for Bathurst. Hockey New Brunswick has accepted an application by a Bathurst group to relocate the Rivermen. Under new rules Hockey New Brunswick accepts bids from communities in each Midget hockey zone to host a franchise for periods of three years at a time. The Rivermen had spent the past 25 years in Miramichi and recently hosted the Atlantic Major Midget Championships.
