According to the Catholic Diocese of Saint John, just over 61 hundred people go to Mass each week in 31 different churches in an area extending from Sussex in the east to St. Stephen in the west.
39 per cent of those churches are experiencing serious financial challenges.
To address this, one proposal would see the region’s 23 parishes converted into four new parishes.
