Miramichi is working on drafting a plan to ask for money from the provincial and federal taxpayers regarding a proposed new rec centre.
That could have a 55 million dollar price tag.
Council is also mulling over a piece of land in Douglastown for the rec centre’s location.
The Golden Hawk Recreation Centre and the LBA both go back to the 1950s.
The Lindon Rec Centre, the MVHS pool; and the Chatham and Kinsmen outdoor pools, were all built in the 1960s and 70s.
All of them would be closed if the new rec centre is built.
