The Nova Scotia Minor Midget Hockey League will be have a team playing at the Berwick Apple Dome with the Valley Wildcats Minor Midget Hockey team.  There will be 7 teams in the league, their first season starts in September.  The Cats are holding their ID camp at the BMO Center in Bedford May 28th.  For more go to nsmmhl.ca

The Acadia Axemen men’s basketball team has signed 6 foot 2 inch guard Brett Speedy from Leo Hayes High School in Fredericton.  Brett was also a member of the provincial under 17 team.  Coach Kevin Duffie feels that his leadership abilities will be a great asset.  Acadia will be hosting the University Sports Men’s Basketball Championships March 8th to the 11th at the Softbank Center in Halifax.

Boxer Josh Jay of Berwick was in the quarterfinals yesterday at the Canadian Senior Boxing Championships.  Jay lost his quarterfinal bought due to bleeding from a cut over his left eye, and was upset that they would not let him continue.  Josh will likely be in the main event at the Canning Boxing Clubs first card coming up June 24th at the Canning Arena.
