Herald union slams newspaper deal

Striking newsroom staff at the Chronicle Herald, who’ve been walking the picket line for over a year, are panning this deal.

Union president Ingrid Bulmer says it was told the demise of the Herald was imminent without cuts to wages and other benefits, but she believes that was a total fabrication. The company is not struggling…it’s expanding. So the union will be filing an unfair labour practise complaint. It also wants the labour minister to appoint an industrial commission to help settle the strike.
