Herald buys up dozens of newspapers

The Halifax Chronicle Herald has bought more than two dozen newspapers in Atlantic Canada.

The Herald says buying the daily and weekly papers from Transcontinental Media will give it the reach and relevance it needs to be sustainable.

The new company is called Saltwire Network and includes newspapers such as The Cape Breton Post, Annapolis Valley Register, Charlottetown Guardian and the St. John’s Telegram, as well as the website novanewsnow.com.
