Federal and provincial funding was announced on Saturday for a new cultural and community hub in Cheticamp. The community has been without a large community space since the Acadian Centre closed six years ago. On Saturday the province announced 400-thousand-dollars in funding while the Federal government pledged 500-thousand for a new community hub to be known at the Cultural Quarter. Inverness County is also providing 150-thousand-dollars towards the project. The Cultural Quarter will include a range of facilities including large rental spaces, an arts academy, outdoor theatre and classroom, and a year round cafe and farmers market.
