Stephen McNeil wants CBC to set the record straight on Port Royal’s place in history. The first episode of Canada: The Story of Us portrays the country’s first permanent European settlement as Quebec in 1608. Port Royal, now Annapolis Royal, was founded in 1605 and is widely recognized as being first. The premier has joined federal and local officials in writing to the network president asking for a new episode that better represents the area.
