More funding to help people stay in their homes longer

The province and CMHC are providing $7.8 million so more seniors, people with disabilities and low-income homeowners can stay in their homes longer.

The money will go to bolstering existing home repair and adaptation programs. The Homeowner Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program gets the most at $6.9 million to help pay for structural, electrical, plumbing, heating and fire safety improvements. Homeowners’ eligibility will be assessed on their income and in some case the value of their home.
