HRM Councillor apologizes for online video

Regional Councillor Matt Whitman has apologized for a video posted online last week.

Whitman, who is also a PC candidate in the upcoming provincial election, posted the video of people in a car. He yells Chinese Fire Drill and they get out and run around the car. There was criticism by people who felt it was racist.

CBC reports Whitman has now posted on his Facebook page that he apologizes for his lapse in judgement and unintentional use of what he now understands to be an insensitive term…that he never meant to offend or hurt anyone and that he has learned from the experience.
