A political science expert at Cape Breton University says a recent court ruling on electoral boundaries doesn’t neccessarily mean the government has to change boundaries before calling an election.
Tom Urbaniak says the ruling in January was an advisory opinion requested by the government, and doesn’t necessarily prevent the Premier from calling an election before boundaries are changed. The previous government changed the boundaries of three Aacadian ridings to include more English speakers which was challeneged by the Acadian Federation.
